Apple Unveils New MacBook Air Models
Apple has introduced two new MacBook Air models, the MacBook Neo and the M5 MacBook Air, catering to both budget-conscious consumers and those seeking high performance.
The MacBook Neo starts at $600 and is powered by Apple’s A18 Pro chipset. It features 8GB of RAM and offers storage options of 256GB or 512GB. The device boasts a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 x 1506 pixels and claims up to 16 hours of battery life.
In contrast, the M5 MacBook Air is priced starting at $1,100 and is equipped with Apple’s M5 chipset. This model offers 16GB or 24GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB. It features a larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2560 x 1664 pixels and claims up to 18 hours of battery life.
Both laptops weigh 2.7 pounds, making them lightweight and portable. The MacBook Neo comes with a 20W USB-C power adapter, while the M5 MacBook Air includes a more powerful 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.
Available colors for the MacBook Neo include Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo, whereas the M5 MacBook Air is offered in Sky Blue, Silver, Starlight, and Midnight.
According to industry observers, “The MacBook Neo is Apple’s long-awaited answer for people on a tight budget who want a MacBook rather than a Windows laptop.” Another source noted, “If you’re looking to save as much money as possible while still getting a reliable laptop, there’s simply nothing like the MacBook Neo on the market right now.”
In terms of performance, the M5 MacBook Air is described as being better suited for tasks like 4K video editing or gaming. Acknowledging the trade-offs, one expert stated, “While the MacBook Neo does make some compromises compared to the M5 MacBook Air — in performance, display, battery life, and design — it’s tough to beat its value if you’re on a budget.”
Apple recently announced these new models alongside other products, including the iPhone 17e and the M4 iPad Air. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact release dates and availability of the new MacBook Air models.
