Sts: LPG Transfer Operations at Vadinar Anchorage: Process Underway

On March 18, 2026, the MT Nanda Devi arrived at Vadinar anchorage, India, carrying a substantial cargo of 46,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This operation is part of India’s ongoing efforts to bolster its energy security and logistics resilience under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The LPG cargo is scheduled to be transferred through a Ship-to-Ship (STS) operation to the MT BW Birch. This method is particularly advantageous as it aims to reduce port congestion and ensure the timely delivery of essential energy supplies.

Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, representing the Deendayal Port Authority, visited the MT Nanda Devi to oversee the arrangements for the STS operation, ensuring that all procedures adhere to international maritime safety standards.

Vadinar anchorage has established itself as a key hub for offshore energy cargo operations in India, facilitating the efficient transfer of goods necessary for the country’s energy demands.

In a related note, the community of Sts. Anargyroi has recently made headlines by donating $20,000 to support the St. Demetrios School of Astoria. Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed gratitude for this generous contribution, stating, “We are deeply moved by your generous donation to the mission of the St. Demetrios Greek American School of Astoria.”

As the STS operation progresses, the focus remains on maintaining safety and efficiency, critical for the successful transfer of such a large volume of LPG.

The current state of the operation reflects a significant step towards enhancing India’s energy logistics, which is vital for meeting the growing demands of its economy.

Overall, the sequence of events surrounding the LPG transfer operations at Vadinar anchorage highlights the importance of maritime logistics in supporting national energy strategies and community initiatives alike.
