Weather Update: Major Cooldown and Rain Chances for Southern California

Southern California is set to experience a major cooldown and increased chances of rain following a hot and sunny weekend. Temperatures will begin to drop significantly on Monday as an area of low pressure moves into the region, bringing cooler marine air.

On Sunday, Los Angeles and Orange counties are expected to reach a high of 87 degrees with a low of 59. Meanwhile, the valleys and Inland Empire will see a high of 92 degrees and a low of 59. Coastal areas will experience milder temperatures, with highs around 74 degrees and lows near 58.

Mountain communities are forecasted to have a high of 70 degrees and a low of 37, while desert areas, including Palm Springs, are expected to reach a high of 100 degrees. These temperatures reflect another unseasonably warm weekend for the region.

As the week progresses, highs are anticipated to return to the low-80s by Monday and drop further to the mid-70s by mid-week. Overnight lows in mountain communities may dip below freezing by mid-week, indicating a significant shift in weather patterns.

Most areas in Southern California will see about a 10% to 20% chance of rain, particularly on Wednesday, as rain chances are expected to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday. This potential rainfall could provide much-needed relief from the recent heat.

Officials are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact timing and intensity of the expected rain.
