“It’s humbling. It’s exciting,” said Diana Hamilton, reflecting on her nomination for Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA). The nominees were unveiled on March 14, 2026, during a special event held at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on May 9, 2026, and will recognize the best in Ghanaian music, with nominations covering works released between January 1 and December 31, 2025. This year, five artists are competing for the prestigious Artiste of the Year award, including Hamilton, who expressed her gratitude for the recognition.
In addition to Hamilton, the Best Afrobeats and Afropop Artiste of the Year category features six nominees: KiDi, Wendy Shay, Kojo Blak, OliveTheBoy, Gyakie, and Moliy. The Best Hiplife Song nominee includes the track “Shoulder” by Medikal featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM.
The announcement of the nominees was executed through a day-long format on social media, complemented by a special show on TV3, allowing fans to engage with the process. Hamilton also quoted a pastor, stating, “The system is working,” highlighting the positive developments within the Ghanaian music scene.
Joe Mettle, a previous award winner, will not participate this year due to a scheduling conflict. The 27th TGMA marks the 27th consecutive edition of the event, which has evolved into one of the most significant music platforms in West Africa.
As anticipation builds for the awards ceremony, fans and artists alike are eager to see who will take home the coveted titles. The full nominees list is available on the Ghana Music Awards official social media channels and the Charterhouse Live YouTube platform.
With a rich history of celebrating Ghanaian talent, the TGMA continues to play a vital role in promoting the country’s music industry on a larger scale.
