Lazio’s head coach Maurizio Sarri insists there are no issues regarding his future despite the team’s struggles this season. Lazio currently sits in 9th place in Serie A, having recently drawn their last match against Bologna 1-1.
The team has faced significant challenges, including a total of 45 injuries this season. These injuries have hindered their performance, as evidenced by their inconsistent results. Lazio has only managed to win one away match in 2026, which complicates their position in the league.
Despite these setbacks, Lazio has shown resilience. They recently won back-to-back Serie A matches, indicating a potential turnaround. However, their last encounter in the Coppa Italia ended in a disappointing draw against Atalanta.
In a recent statement, Sarri acknowledged the difficulties but emphasized that one game cannot define an entire campaign. “One game could not change the evaluation of an entire campaign; it would have to be viewed as a whole,” he said.
Angelo Maria Fabiani echoed Sarri’s sentiments, noting that injuries and missed opportunities have impacted their season. He stated, “I share what the coach said; it has been a season affected by some factors like injuries, like not winning some games we should’ve won.”
Lazio’s next match is crucial as they face Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico. Historically, Lazio has had a strong record in the Coppa Italia, winning seven times, with their last victory occurring in 2019.
As they prepare for this upcoming fixture, both Sarri and Fabiani hope for a positive result to bolster team morale. “Tonight’s fixture is one you’d rather be in than not,” Fabiani remarked.
With ongoing challenges and upcoming matches ahead, Lazio aims to improve its standing and focus on clinching the Coppa Italia as their primary objective.
