Enzo Maresca is pushing hard for Enzo Fernandez to join Manchester City as he prepares for a potential managerial role. Maresca aims to make Fernandez a top priority in the summer transfer window.
Fernandez has enjoyed a remarkable season, scoring his 13th goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Leeds United. Overall, he has netted 16 goals across all competitions, marking his best season since joining Chelsea FC.
Maresca previously served as head coach of Chelsea during the 2024/25 season. He had a successful, albeit brief, stint there, winning the Conference League and Club World Cup. He has also worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant during the 2023 Champions League-winning campaign.
Maresca sees Fernandez playing further up the pitch as a No.10, which aligns with the player’s recent comments. “Under previous managers, I was more of a No.6. Under Maresca, I’m playing further forward, so I’m scoring goals and getting assists,” said Fernandez.
Officials have not confirmed Chelsea’s willingness to sell Fernandez. Meanwhile, the future of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City remains uncertain as speculation about his next steps continues.
