Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation in Ghana, stated, “I am not nervous, but I am rather calculated in doing things, and if I am convinced about what I am doing, nothing stops me.” He remains calm despite the pressure surrounding Ghana’s World Cup prospects and the recent sacking of Otto Addo.
The Black Stars will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their fifth appearance. They have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. This tournament poses a significant challenge for the team.
Adams confirmed that the decision to sack Otto Addo was a collective one based on performance concerns. The Ghana Football Association conducted a technical analysis that led to this dismissal. Carlos Queiroz has been appointed as the new head coach on a four-month contract.
Adams emphasized that he did not personally orchestrate Otto Addo’s sacking during a trip to Germany. He expressed confidence in managing the pressure surrounding the Black Stars’ World Cup prospects.
In addition to his football responsibilities, Adams is also involved in athletics. Hoshii International Limited was unveiled as the gold partner for the 24th Africa Senior Athletics Championships, which will be hosted at the University of Ghana Stadium from May 12-17. Adams remarked, “Sponsoring sports is a good cause, and we will give certificates to every company that sponsors sports and sporting activities.”
Hoshii International will provide a cash component and products for the championship. Ivy Udanoh from Hoshii International stated, “At Hoshii International, we believe in the unifying power of sport, particularly athletics, which embodies discipline, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.”
