Liam Rosenior was sacked after only three months in charge at Chelsea FC. The club announced the decision following a run of five consecutive defeats.
Chelsea’s performance under Rosenior fell short of expectations. He secured just 11 wins in 23 games. In his final match, the team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Brighton, marking the first time since 1912 that Chelsea lost five games without scoring.
Chelsea slipped to seventh in the Premier League standings as a result. Chelsea FC expressed gratitude to Rosenior and his staff for their efforts during a challenging season.
“This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly,” said a spokesperson from Chelsea FC. “However, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season.”
Rosenior’s tenure began in January 2026. He started his managerial career at Derby County and Hull City before joining Chelsea.
In his last comments, he described his players’ performance as “indefensible” and “unacceptable.” His criticism highlighted the urgency for improvement within the squad.
Calum McFarlane will take charge as Interim Head Coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement. Officials have not confirmed any potential candidates.
The situation remains fluid as Chelsea navigates this managerial change. The club aims to regroup and refocus on their goals for the remainder of the season.
