Pastor Jerry Eze was cleared of all allegations after a six-month investigation by the EFCC in Abuja, Nigeria. The investigation found no evidence of financial misconduct or money laundering against him.
The EFCC initiated the investigation due to concerns over significant foreign currency inflows into a domiciliary account linked to Pastor Eze. Following the investigation, the commission confirmed that it found no proof to substantiate any claims against him.
The Jerry Eze Foundation has recently launched a significant grant initiative aimed at promoting economic empowerment among small businesses. The foundation disbursed over N1 billion in grants to 240 entrepreneurs. Each beneficiary received $3,000 in funding support.
The selection process for these grants was competitive, involving over 16,000 applications. Among these, 9,668 applicants met the eligibility requirements. Pastor Eze expressed pride in this initiative, stating, “My late mum taught me that you can give everything. Everything I know about giving, I learned from her.”
The EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede, stated that routine monitoring of financial activities will continue for Pastor Eze. He emphasized that the commission concluded its investigation into the allegations involving Pastor Eze without finding any evidence of wrongdoing.
Pastor Eze described the investigation period as emotionally difficult and questioned why he was being investigated at all. He noted that while the EFCC chairman expressed satisfaction with the outcome, he felt deeply affected by the scrutiny.
This initiative by the Jerry Eze Foundation aligns with broader efforts to stimulate entrepreneurship and support small businesses in Nigeria’s economy. Dr Oby Ezekwesili remarked on the need for purposeful expansion to address pressing economic challenges.
The foundation’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs marks a significant step towards enhancing economic opportunities in Nigeria.
