DStv to Broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026 Across Africa

DStv will broadcast all 104 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 across Africa. This tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in Mexico, Canada, and the USA. Ten African countries have qualified for this prestigious event.

The qualified nations are Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This historic qualification has been celebrated by figures such as Idris Elba, who stated, “There are ten of us now.”

DStv subscribers can watch all matches regardless of their subscription tier—from DStv Access to DStv Premium. This accessibility is crucial for fans eager to support their teams on the global stage.

In a notable shift, DStv did not increase subscription prices on April 1, 2026. Willington Ngwepe confirmed this decision: “We will not be having an inflation adjustment to pricing.” He emphasized that maintaining flat prices reflects an appreciation of current economic circumstances.

DStv’s entry-level HD decoders are priced at about $27. This move aims to make sports more accessible amid economic challenges. However, MultiChoice reported a loss of 589,000 South African subscribers in its last financial year.

To enhance customer experience, DStv has introduced a bill-splitting feature via the MyDStv app. This innovation allows users to manage their subscriptions more flexibly.

Coverage will also be available in local African languages including Twi, isiZulu, SeSotho, Kiswahili, and Pidgin. This initiative aims to reach a broader audience and cater to diverse linguistic communities.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the longest-running tournament in history with the largest number of matches. As excitement builds for this event, fans await further developments regarding coverage and features.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional programming or features DStv may introduce leading up to the tournament. Nevertheless, the anticipation continues to grow as the world prepares for this landmark event in sports history.
