Google’s initiative to provide 100,000 Career Certificate scholarships marks a significant step in equipping Ghana’s youth with essential digital skills. The program launched on April 28, 2026, aims to enhance job readiness for the global digital economy.
The initiative is delivered in partnership with the Government of Ghana through the One Million Coders Program. This program seeks to train one million Ghanaians in digital skills by the year 2030.
Participants can complete their training online within six months, and no prior experience is required. Available tracks include Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, IT Support, Project Management, and UX Design.
The program aims to close the talent gap between potential and capability in Africa. It also lowers barriers to entry for a broader segment of the population to participate in the digital economy.
Access to structured learning and globally recognized certifications will be provided to participants. Applications open through the One Million Coders platform.
Ghana is actively shaping the future of work. As one source noted, “Ghana is not just preparing for the future of work—it is actively shaping it.” This initiative represents a vision for building a competitive workforce in a technology-driven world.
