Hotel: New at Accra International Airport to Serve Budget and Luxury Travelers

The new hotel at Accra International Airport will uniquely serve both budget-conscious and luxury travelers under one roof. The dual-concept hotel is set to open on April 27, 2026.

Half of the hotel will cater to low-budget travelers, referred to as ‘mbobrɔwa’. The other half will provide luxury accommodation for high-end guests. This approach aims to attract a diverse range of visitors.

The hotel is part of a broader Terminal 3 upgrade at Accra International Airport. This upgrade includes a seven-storey multi-storey car park with a capacity for 2,000 cars. These airport upgrades are designed to enhance the overall travel experience.

John Dramani Mahama emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “There will be a hotel. Half of it will be budget for we the ‘mbobrɔwa’, and the other half will be a luxury hotel for those who can afford it.” His remarks highlight the intention behind this initiative.

This project also aims to increase non-aeronautical revenue streams for the airport. By diversifying its offerings, the airport seeks to boost its financial sustainability.

Moreover, the development is expected to contribute significantly to job creation in Ghana. With increased tourism and improved facilities, local employment opportunities should rise.

Officials have not provided specific details regarding job numbers or timelines for completion beyond the hotel’s opening date. However, stakeholders remain optimistic about its potential impact on the local economy.

Overall, this investment in aviation infrastructure reflects Ghana’s strategy to position itself as a competitive aviation hub in West Africa. As travel demand grows, such developments may prove crucial for the country’s economic landscape.
