The Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has demanded the suspension of the Ghana School of Law entrance exams scheduled for July 31, 2026. He claims the government has betrayed students’ trust by not following through on promises to abolish these exams.

Previously, students expected the government to eliminate the entrance exams based on public assurances from officials. These assurances influenced their decisions not to prepare adequately for the upcoming tests.

Assafuah criticized the Majority Chief Whip for creating confusion regarding the role of the Independent Examination Council (IEC) in organizing these entrance exams. The IEC is responsible for administering examinations for prospective law students in Ghana.

He stated, “Those assurances have now proven unreliable.” This statement reflects a growing frustration among law students who relied on government commitments.

Assafuah has formally requested an unqualified apology from the government to law students, emphasizing that their trust was compromised. The situation has put additional pressure on both students and educational authorities.

The upcoming entrance exams are a significant point of contention. Students feel misled after being assured that such examinations would be abolished.

Assafuah’s demands highlight a broader issue within the education system in Ghana. Many believe that government assurances should be honored to maintain trust and integrity.
