Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Launches Leadership Academy

The ACCA–KSB Leadership Academy launched at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on April 14, 2026. This initiative aims to equip students with essential skills for national development. The Academy’s pioneer cohort consists of 52 second-year students from 15 departments.

The program emphasizes ethics, sustainability, digital transformation, and corporate governance. These areas are crucial as Ghana navigates its evolving economic landscape. The leadership academy is expected to serve as a model for similar initiatives across tertiary institutions in the country.

Career services at KNUST also play a vital role in student development. Recently, the Career Services Centre hosted an industry engagement session for final-year students. The session aimed to guide students in career planning and industry expectations.

During this session, professionals from the Food and Drugs Authority and CSIR engaged with students. They provided insights into industry standards and practices. “We support them to set goals for their future,” said Mrs. Selina Angmor Doe, emphasizing the importance of such interactions.

In another collaborative effort, advanced practice students from the University of Huddersfield visited KNUST for a knowledge exchange. This visit involved working alongside Ghanaian colleagues in various hospital settings. Students participated in health clinics at rural health centers and local orphanages, fostering community engagement.

The exchange aimed to develop collaborations between the University of Huddersfield and KNUST. Professor Charles Tortoe remarked, “When research meets industry, we create businesses. When it does not, opportunities are lost.” This statement underscores the importance of partnerships in driving economic growth.

Mr. Alistair Djimatey noted that processing local agricultural products could create numerous opportunities for communities. He highlighted the potential benefits of leveraging local resources effectively.

As these initiatives unfold, they will likely influence future educational strategies in Ghana. Yet, details remain unconfirmed regarding additional partnerships or expansions related to the ACCA–KSB Leadership Academy.
